The Sunday newspaper has more to offer than just coupons. With just a few items from Dollar Tree and your favorite news section, you can create this stylish “newsprint” nails look [cutaway to finished nails]. And, it’s so easy… let me show you how I did it!

First, I want to let you in on a little secret. Dollar Tree carries the coolest supplies for creating fashionable — and creative — nail looks… tons of nail polish colors, nail art polishes, emery boards, manicure sets, nail polish remover… pretty much anything you need for nails!

To create this cool “newsprint” nail look, you’ll need:

  • Nail polish – a light color like white, soft pink, or gray works best
  • Clear top coat
  • A newspaper
  • Scissors
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • A small bowl or dish
  • Nail polish remover
  • Cotton swabs

First you want to apply a good base coat with your light-color nail polish. It’s best to do this the night before you plan on adding the newsprint. This ensures your polish is completely dry.

Next, cut out small sections of the newspaper. Make sure the print isn’t too small or too big, and also be sure to cut the sections just large enough to cover your entire nail.

Pour some rubbing alcohol into a small bowl or dish. Now you’re ready to start the fun part, transferring the newsprint onto your nails.  It is best to do this one nail at a time.

Dip your nail into the rubbing alcohol, holding it there for about 10 seconds. Then, firmly press a piece of the newspaper onto your nail for 15 – 20 seconds. Peel off the newspaper very carefully to make sure the print doesn’t smudge. Repeat this process until you have all your nails covered in newsprint.

Once you have transferred the newsprint to all of your nails and you’ve let them dry for about 10 minutes, you can apply a clear top coat. This “seals” the newsprint and prevents smudging, plus gives you a shiny finish.

The final step is to dip a cotton swab in some nail polish remover and clean up any edges for a finished look.

It’s really that easy to get this fun nail look. I hope you enjoyed this Dollar Tree Idea! Stop by your Dollar Tree or go to DollarTree.com and see what ideas you can come up with!
